Gorakhpur: A youth was killed and his brother was seriously injured after he was shot in the Belghat police station area of ​​Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur district, allegedly in connection with the recently concluded panchayat elections. Gone. Police said on Tuesday that both the brothers were shot late on Monday evening and later in the night one of the brothers died at BRD Medical College Hospital.

Police said that after the death of a brother, angry villagers started protest on Tuesday morning and blocked Belghat-Kuri market. They tried to enter the house of the main accused but the police reached the spot and brought the situation under control.

Police have registered a case against four named and 15 unknown persons in this case for murder, attempt to murder and under SC-ST Act. According to the police, three others, including a named accused in the case, have been taken into custody. The names of the named accused include Krishna Agrahari, Asif, Shivam Singh and Rintu Singh.

According to the police report, 22-year-old Sanjay Beldar had contested the election of the Kshetra Panchayat Member (BDC). Somebody called him on Monday evening at around 9.30 pm. According to the complaint, Sanjay left the house and his younger brother Ranjay also followed him. As they approached a crossroads, some men tried to forcibly take Sanjay with them and when he resisted, they opened fire. Both brothers were injured by the bullet and the attackers fled from the spot.

On receiving information about the incident, Superintendent of Police (South) AK Singh along with the police force reached the spot and took the injured to the hospital where late night Sanjay died and Ranjay’s Treatment is going on now. Ranjay told the police that the accused first attacked him with a knife and then opened fire. He also told the police that Krishna Agrahari had also contested the BDC elections and since then he was having a rift with his brother. Superintendent of Police (South) AK Singh said that the police have taken the accused Shivam Singh and three others into custody and search is on for the other accused.
