Patna: Panchayat elections are to be held in Bihar this year. Preparations have been started at the administrative level for the Panchayat elections. Preparations are being made on a large scale for the elections to be held during the Corona period. However, amidst the preparations, news is coming out that those people who have more than two children will not be able to contest the panchayat elections. Since this news came to the fore, there has been doubt among the people who intend to contest the elections.
Bihar already has this rule
In such a situation, to know the truth of the news, ABP News talked to Bihar’s Panchayati Raj Minister Samrat Chaudhary. During this, he said that in the environment of Bihar, which is a matter of population control law, in the laws which were made after 2006-07, a provision was made in the civic body that those who have more than two children, they cannot contest elections.
He said, “Bihar already has this law. It needs to be implemented in Panchayati Raj. But now even if it is implemented, it will have to wait till 2026. This law cannot be implemented in this election. But in this environment, I myself believe that now more discussion is needed on this in India. If needed, it should also be made a law.”
Minister Samrat Chaudhary said, “The Chief Minister of Bihar has repeatedly said that the rate of women’s education in Bihar is low. In such a situation, they will have to be brought forward for education. For this cycle scheme, dress scheme, free education up to graduate should be given. The work has been done, which has brought awareness and the fertility rate is decreasing in Bihar.”
Impossible to enforce the law this time
Regarding the implementation of the law, he said that since it has been 10-12 years since the legislation of the municipal body, now the time has come to make similar arrangements in Panchayati Raj and other government institutions also. Regarding the implementation of the law in the Panchayat elections this time, he said that this time it cannot be implemented. Even if it happens this time, then one year exemption will have to be given.
