IND Vs SL: BCCI has announced the Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour. This time five new players have got a chance in the team. These include Devdutt Padikal, Rituraj Gaikwad, Nitish Rana, Krishnappa Gautam and Chetan Sakaria. These players can get a chance to debut on the Sri Lanka tour. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Devdutt Padikal made headlines last year for his impressive performance in the IPL. He was one of the highest run-scorers for Bangalore. He played 15 matches in IPL 2021, in which he scored 473 runs at a strike rate of 124. These include 5 half-centuries. Apart from this, he scored 195 runs in 6 matches at a strike rate of 152 till the postponement of IPL 2021. It also includes an unbeaten century.
On behalf of Chennai Super Kings, Rituraj Gaikwad has also impressed everyone with his brilliant performance. If we look at his IPL records, then in IPL 2020 he got a chance to play in 6 matches. In this he scored 169 runs at a strike rate of 120.71. In IPL 2021, he scored 196 runs in 7 matches at a strike rate of 128.94. These include 3 half-centuries.
Mumbai Indians opener Nitish Rana has been creating panic in the IPL for many years. He is a part of IPL since the year 2016. He scored 104 runs in 4 matches in IPL 2016, 333 runs in 13 matches in 2017, 304 runs in 15 matches in IPL 2018. Apart from this, Nitish Rana scored 344 runs in 14 matches in IPL 2019, 352 runs in 14 matches in 2020 and 201 runs in seven matches in 2021. Till now he has scored 13 fifties in IPL career.
Krishnappa Gautam is a part of Punjab Kings in IPL. He can also bat as well as bowl. In the year 2018, he made his debut in the IPL. In his first season, he played 15 matches, taking 11 wickets and contributing 126 runs. The year 2019 was not good for him and in 7 matches he could only take one wicket and scored 9 runs. In the year 2020, he played 2 matches, in which he took one wicket and scored 42 runs.
Saurashtra fast bowler Chetan Sakariya made his debut in IPL recently. He played 7 matches for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021, taking 7 wickets with an economy of 8.22. Sakariya’s performance in domestic matches has been good, in view of which BCCI has selected him in the squad for the Sri Lanka tour. It will be interesting to see how they perform in Sri Lanka.
