Sharad Pawar On Presidential Poll: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar has rubbished claims that Pawar could be the presidential candidate from the opposition alliance.
Sharad Pawar said, “It is absolutely wrong that I will be a candidate for the presidential election. I know what will be the outcome considering the party which has more than 300 MPs. I will not be a candidate in the presidential election.
Regarding meeting with election strategist Prashant Kishor, he said that I met him twice, but we only talked about his company. There was no discussion during this time regarding the leadership for the 2024 election or the presidential election. Prashant Kishor told me that he has given up on making an election strategy.
Regarding the front against BJP, Sharad Pawar said that whether it is the 2024 Lok Sabha elections or the state elections, nothing has been decided yet. Elections are far away, political situations keep changing. I am not going to assume leadership in 2024 elections.
Last month, Prashant Kishor met NCP chief Pawar. These meetings with Pawar had fueled speculation of opposition parties coming together to form a third front against the BJP.
What did Shiv Sena say on Pawar’s leadership?
Amid speculation of formation of a Third Front, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut today said it is a difficult task to bring all the opposition parties together and build a consensus on one face to take on the BJP in the 2024 general elections. He said a big reason for this is that every regional party considers itself the king and tries to “fix things on its own accord”.
When asked if Sharad Pawar would be that potential face? Sanjay Raut said that the NCP chief is a senior national leader, but at the same time, some people are thinking about West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress President Mamata Banerjee.
