New Delhi: Putting an end to the speculation of change in the post of the leader of the Congress party in the Lok Sabha, the party’s high sources have made it clear that no change is going to happen at the moment. That is, during the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury will remain the leader of the Congress party in the Lok Sabha.
According to an official source in the Congress party, less than a week is left for the Parliament session. In such a situation, it is not possible to change the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha. Adhir Ranjan will also be present in the meeting of the “Parliamentary Strategy Group” convened by Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday evening to chalk out a strategy to surround the government in the monsoon session.
Considering his seniority, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, MP from Murshidabad in West Bengal, was made the leader of the party in the 17th Lok Sabha elected in 2019 by the Congress leadership. Before the West Bengal assembly elections, Adhir Ranjan was once again given the command of Bengal Congress. Since then, on the basis of the formula of “one person one post”, speculations are being made that the Congress may change the post of leader of the party in the Lok Sabha.
However, in the last winter session and budget session, only Adhir Ranjan remained the leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha. But after the crushing defeat of the Congress in the West Bengal elections, speculations were being made afresh to remove Adhir from the post of the leader of the Congress party in the Lok Sabha. There was speculation about the replacement of Adhir Ranjan to Ravneet Bittu, Manish Tewari, Shashi Tharoor and Gaurav Gogoi. Some people also blew the news that Rahul Gandhi could replace Adhir.
But now the high sources of Congress have put an end to these speculations. But the question still remains whether the Congress can replace Adhir Ranjan with a new face in the future as the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha!
