New Delhi: The government on Monday said that the GST Council has not yet recommended the inclusion of oil and gas in the purview of the Goods and Services Tax (GST). Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Rameshwar Teli in Lok Sabha. This information was given in written reply to the question of members like Muraleedharan, Bhartrihari Mahtab, Supriya Sule and Saugata Roy etc.
These members had asked, “Is there a plan to bring petroleum products under the ambit of Goods and Services Tax (GST) to control the prices of diesel, petrol?”

The minister replied, “At present there is no plan to bring these products under the ambit of GST. So far, the GST Council has not recommended the inclusion of oil and gas in the purview of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Let us inform that many times it has been said by the leaders of the opposition parties to bring oil and gas under GST, but every time the government rejects it.

These days oil prices have crossed Rs 100 in many cities of the country. In such a situation, leaders of opposition parties in different cities along with their workers are protesting against the government.
